Dr. Fred Hermanson may recommend implant-supported dentures as an alternative to traditional dentures.

What Is an Implant-Supported Denture?
Implant-supported dentures are a more stable and long-lasting solution for replacing missing teeth. They are anchored into place with a few strategically placed implants, giving you a final result that is highly stable and feels and functions more like your natural teeth. While implant-retained dentures appear very similar in form to regular removable dentures, they are stabilized using implants to prevent them from coming loose and “floating” in the mouth. This increases comfort in addition to improving your ability to eat and speak normally.

When you receive this treatment, the first step will be to place implant posts into your mouth. These posts are surgically inserted into the jawbone, replacing the missing tooth roots and anchoring the denture into place. Most cases require four to six implants per denture. After you have healed from your implant placement procedure, the denture will be attached to the posts to complete your treatment and restore your smile.
